“Deterrence is the art of producing in the mind of the enemy… the FEAR to attack. And so, because of the automated and irrevocable decision-making process which rules out human meddling, the Doomsday machine is terrifying and simple to understand… and completely credible and convincing.”

I don’t know why this bothers me so much: Christopher Reeve playing the role of L.B. Jeffries in this made-for-tv remake of Rear Window. It just seems wrong. He chose to take the part, it’s not as if he were forced into it as community service for drunk driving or cheating on his taxes.

Yet I’m still bothered. It’s probably the idea of seeing him take on every wheelchair role: Stephen Hawking’s biopic, Ron Kovic in Born on the Fourth of July Part II, Dr. Strangelove Takes Manhattan, etc………….
