He was just another noisy little punk in the great legion of punks who marched between the banners of bigger and better men. Freedom, Truth, Honour- you could rattle off a hundred such words and behind every one of them would gather a thousand punks, pompous little farts, waving the banner with one hand and reaching under the table with the other.

  1. Wow!

Great match of words and images. Blue and gloomy seems to match the foggy thinking of meatheads.

Einstein once said “He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder.”

I just hate nationalisim and just about any other ism for that matter.

Watching the olympics recently made me cringe at all the jingoistic commentry that our TV presenters prattled on with.

As crazy as Hunter was, he sure put his finger on the pulse of so many things.

  2. Razz – Thanks for the kind words. I’ve had this quote in my back pocket for a couple days and finally found the right photos to match it.

And yes, HST was a bit daft, but in the right way. He never shied away from the truth of the matter.

  3. Well, I’ve gotten “prurient”, and you’ve gotten unpatriotic. We’re even.

Ha! Ha! Just kidding! I’m with you and Razz on that one. As a general rule, I agree with everything Razz says on other people’s blogs. I just find issues with his.

HST was in the military for a couple of years. He got an honorable discharge that stated: “In summary, this airman, although talented, will not be guided by policy.”

I’m going to go back to being prurient now. Ta ta!

  4. Love that Hunter S. I was just “chanelling” him the other night. (:
